If you read my blogs, then you know yesterday I posted about how to be happy with New Years resolutions. While fulfilling one of them this morning, I ran into a few issues, that I thought I’d share.

First, I should fill you in on the resolution.

I love plants, planting them, looking at them, watching them grow. There’s only one issue with them………….I FORGET to water them, and they end up dying! lol
So, this year I decided I would resolve to water my yard every day. Why do I need to water my yard everyday and not use our sprinkler system?
Funny you ask! The LAST time I tried to turn my sprinkler system (about 2 months ago), it wouldn’t turn off.
Our brilliant handymen (hired by our landlord, NOT us) had previously attached our watering system to our entire house, so my husband (Derik) had to turn the water off to the entire house while we waited for them to come and fix it.
When they arrived (the NEXT day), Derik had to tell them how to fix the situation PROPERLY, which they finally did. Needless to say, after this experience, I am NOT relying on the sprinkler system! Therefore, the watering has been on me…………and as stated above, NOT SO GOOD AT THAT!!! šŸ™‚ lol
Well, this has been one of our driest winters on record, so leaving the watering to mother Earth hasn’t been working so well either. Luckily we live in a pretty moist environment, so our grass is still green. YELLOW green, but green! šŸ˜‰

ANYWAY, this morning after dropping kid off at school I decided to water the yard. I water it for 5 minutes or so, and then go to turn it off. While walking to the spout, I accidentally drop the hose, and it falls onto the handle of the gun and water shoots everywhere.
All over my left thigh, up onto the entire left side of my shirt, and into the left side of my hair (which I had just washed, waited to dry and lightly straightened – NOT using a straightener on my hair EVERY DAY is another resolution I have).
So, there I am, soaked on my entire left side, with only 20 minutes before I have to be at work. I could just change shirts, but I already did my eyeshadow to match my shirt, so that is NOT happening.
I ran upstairs, changed jeans, grabbed my blow dryer, dried my shirt AND hair and got myself to work on time. All the time laughing at what happens to us when we try to do positive things.

We can either see that as a reason to quit (who wants to get soaked everyday before work), or we can laugh about it, fix it and learn to be MORE careful tomorrow while watering our lawns. šŸ™‚

Have a wonderful day everyone – don’t let the difficulties of your day bring you down! ā¤
