We constantly hear of new ideas, concepts, techniques, etc. that are the new thing to do. However, after a while, we find they are all old practices used before we had the technology and resources we have today. One example of this is, oil pulling.

In the past few months I’ve heard and read all about this new, yet old, practice called oil pulling. This practice consists of putting an oil in your mouth and swishing it around for 20 minutes. It’s supposed to give you better dental health, as it cuts down the plaques and bacteria.  I honestly gave it little thought due to the fact that I rarely indulge in the newest concepts.

However the other day, a coworker of mine brought up how she heard coconut oil was a natural teeth whitener. Now, THIS sparked an interest in me. For the past 5 years or so, I’ve been using peroxide as a mouth wash, which is a natural tooth whitener, and works very well. I’ve never cared for the taste however, so thought I’d give the coconut oil a try.

Have you heard of oil pulling? This is my experience with it…

WOW, talk about some white teeth!! They were whiter than the peroxide EVER made them.  That solved it for me, I would start using the coconut oil as a mouthwash instead. So I did, for about five minutes every day.  That was a little over two weeks ago.

After a little over a week of using the coconut oil as a mouthwash, I remembered hearing about this oil pulling thing, so I finally looked it up. I realized first of all I would have to  increase my swishing time quite a bit! lol I’ve now been swishing for 15-20 minutes since then, which was 6 days ago.

The amazing outcome I’ve had so far……..thee hormone rash I get two times a months from my PMDD hasn’t surfaced like it usually does at this time of month. 😀

Let me explain a bit. I’ve had PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder) for my entire life, even though I was only diagnosed 11 years ago. PMDD is PMS X 100 for those who have no experience with is. The older I’ve gotten the worse it has got. Instead of having PMS before my period, I get it BEFORE my period, and then AGAIN AFTER my period, before I ovulate. So, to sum it up…………PMS EVERY TWO WEEKS………….FUN huh??!!!?!? lol

ANOTHER one of the side effects I have also had is the PMDD throwing my PH in my body off. This messes with my hormones…………obviously! The outcome that I get from this, is a rash that runs from the top of my ass cheek, down the inside of my thighs and stops at the back of my knee and is VERY PAINFUL!!! Been dealing with it for 15 years now (misdiagnosed for 12) and I take the highest dose of  Probiotics  possible, but it never really goes away.

Well, I stopped my period October 23rd, which means I ovulated October 29-November 4…………which means, my ass should be on fire right now from healing up from the rash. It however, is NOT!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

I didn’t even notice it until this morning, when I was applying it as my lotion. All of a sudden it clicked, that I had no HUGE rash on my body, but only a mild one….as I stated before, it never really goes away. After noticing I began to think about what I had been doing differently and could only come up with oil pulling, so I immediately got online to see the side effects of oil pulling…….sure enough balancing of hormones is one!! Can you say ECSTATIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

I’m hoping this is not a temporary fix, but a permanent one. Another month from now, I’ll let you know if it is still having the same benefits. 🙂

I got my husband started on it this morning too….. It’s worth a shot!
